SHIPPING TO USA - UPDATE
On the 30th of July, the United States Government announced a new Executive Order which outlined further changes to customs obligations and processes for goods being imported into the USA. The changes came in to effect on the 29th of August.
To allow us to minimise unpredictable or unexpected charges to our customers in the United States, we will be covering all duties and taxes for US orders on a trial basis from October 2025. The flat rate for shipping to the USA has been increased to £45 to allow us to cover these costs, but customers should not have to pay any additional customs charges or handling fees.

🎁 UK DELIVERY
We offer several paid options for UK delivery.
- Royal Mail First Class (untracked): £5
- Royal Mail Signed For (limited tracking): £7.50
- DHL Express (fully tracked): £9
- Standard (alcohol only): £5.95 per bottle
We also offer the following free delivery options:
- FREE Royal Mail First Class delivery on all orders over £40 (excludes alcohol)
- FREE DHL delivery on all orders over £100 (excludes alcohol)
- FREE Royal Mail First Class (untracked) for staff & students based on the UofG Dumfries campus, using discount code: DUMFRIESSHIPPING at checkout
Alcohol delivery
Alcohol is only available for delivery within the UK. Alcohol orders are fulfilled and dispatched separately by Gleann Mor Spirits Ltd, and do not qualify for free delivery. Postage is charged at £5.95 per bottle.
If your order contains alcohol products plus other items for dispatch from the Gift Shop, and your basket total is over £40, then your other non-alcohol items will qualify for free delivery from the shop.
UK timescales
We aim to process all UK orders within 5-7 working days, excepting personalised or made-to-order items. These have longer timescales and may be dispatched separately by our suppliers.*
We dispatch orders five days a week, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays or days when the shop is closed (such as between Christmas and New Year, or during stocktake).
*Please note Replacement Degree Parchments are dispatched by the University Registry via a tracked service. Graduation ceremony recordings are sent via e-mail by the University's Learning Enhancement and Development Service (LEADS).
🌍 INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY (including EU & EEA Orders)
We offer the following delivery options for international orders:
- DHL Express (fully tracked, duties unpaid): £25
- USA Tracked International (DHL Express, fully tracked, duties paid): £45
We regret we cannot ship to overseas military addresses or postal boxes (e.g. APO).
CUSTOMS AND IMPORT FEES
To bring us into line with current tax legislation, overseas customers will not be charged VAT (sales tax) when checking out. Depending on your country of residence you may have to pay VAT or sales taxes, plus any additional customs fees, tariffs or handling costs, when your parcel arrives in the destination country. Any such fees are the responsibility of the recipient and not of GURHL.
DHL Express will make you aware of any charges due as soon as they are applied by authorities in your own country. These charges will need to be settled with DHL before your order can be delivered. If your order has been sent via an alternative delivery partner for any reason, you may be contacted either by them or by your local customs authority regarding any charges. (EXCLUDING USA)
Should we dispatch an order overseas and there is a refusal to pay the above charges (where they apply), we will not provide a refund. This is because in most cases we cannot recover the goods, or can only do so at considerable expense, and the parcel ends up being destroyed.

USA Shipping

✨ FREE SHIPPING OFFERS
Where we run free shipping or related offers, 'Free shipping' means that we will pay the cost of posting the goods. This does not include any local taxes and/or customs charges that may apply in the destination country, and the recipient will still be liable for any such additional charges as outlined in our full Terms and Conditions.

🛒 Collect from Shop Orders
Our collect from shop service is free of charge. We aim to process collect from shop orders within two working days (or four working days, if your order is placed over a weekend). We will let you know when your order has been processed and is ready to pick up. The shop is open for order collection from 10am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday (excluding days when the shop is closed, such as between Christmas and New Year, or during stocktake).
Orders remaining uncollected after 6 months will be returned to stock without refund. For our full collection policy and FAQs, please see here.
