Limited edition tote to mark the Hunterian Art Gallery exhibition The Afterlife of Mary, Queen of Scots. Find out more about the exhibition here.

The image is based on a portrait by Francois Clouet, painted around the time of Mary's marriage to the Dauphin of France (the future Francis II) in 1558. Mary became Queen of France when Francis was crowned in 1559, but he died less than a year later and Mary returned to Scotland - a queen twice over and widowed once by the age of 18. 

Quote on reverse reads: "To be kind to all, to like many and to love a few, to be needed and wanted by those we love, is certainly the nearest we can come to happiness."
