Adam Smith Decoration

  • Make a Selection

These beautiful tree decorations are handmade in Thailand and India according to Fair Trade principles. Many of them feature the traditional Indian technique of zardozi embroidery. The manufacturer, St. Nicolas, is a member of the British Association of Fair Trade Suppliers.

This Adam Smith decoration is made especially for the University by St Nicolas.

Adam Smith described his time at the University of Glasgow as 'By far the most useful... and by the far the happiest and most honourable period of my life.' He attended as a student, became a professor of logic and moral philosophy and served as University Rector until the year before his death in 1790. This decoration shows him clutching his most famous book 'The Wealth of Nations'.

Please note that these decorations are handmade and thus may appear slightly different to the displayed image.
