Beautiful silk scarf measuring 80cm square, featuring an 1828 map of Glasgow from the collections of the University of Glasgow Library.

This beautiful design shows a section through David Smith's, 'Plan of the City of Glasgow and Environs with the all the Latest Improvements' from 1828.

Smith's plan shows a dynamic city bursting through the edges of the map and featuring new roads, canals and bridges. The University is shown in it's old position near to the Cathedral, some 40 years before the Gilbert Scott Building was opened in the west end of the city.
The map is just one of an extensive collection held at the University Library and available for consultation to students and the general public. Visit for more information.
