University Tartan Bonnet / Tam O'Shanter

  • Make a Selection

Pepper afficionados may have heard of a Scotch bonnet, but this is the other kind - a traditional Scottish round flat cap often known as a Tam O'Shanter (or tam for short).

The name Tam O'Shanter comes from the eponymous hero of the Robert Burns poem, but the hat itself has been around since the 15th century. Common in everyday wear for men and women, tams were also worn by Scottish soldiers as part of modern military dress, and are still part of the uniform for regiments in Scotland and Canada today. Our version is finished in soft University tartan fabric with a roomy fit and is topped with a dashing toorie (translation: pom pom).

Size: One size fits all. 27cm diameter at top.
