Vintage Glasgow Map Umbrealla

£ 24.99

A robust automatic folding umbrella, featuring a beautiful vintage map from the collection at the University Library.

David Smith's 'Plan of the City of Glagow and its Environs with all the Latest Improvements' was created in 1828 and shows the rapidly expanding city as it approches its industrial heydey.

The University is shown at its old location on the High Street, with the original Hunterian Museum close-by. To the west of the city centre are the new developments around Blytheswood Hill and a new five-span bridge can be seen crossing the Clyde - its inclusion pre-dating the actual completion in 1829.

The umbrella reproduces the map larger than life size, with streets and areas clearly marked. With the original colouring this umbrella will brighten many a dull day!

Measures 28cm long x 6 cm wide when folded.
Diameter of 100cm when open with 53cm long handle.
